FREE SCHOOL MEALS
Your child/ren may be entitled to receive free school lunches and other benefits if you are in receipt of one of the following allowances:
  • Income Support
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Guaranteed Pension Credit
  • NASS Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Action 1999, an Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, who do not receive Working Tax Credit AND who have an annual taxable income of less than £16,190.

Children who are entitled to free school meals are not obliged to eat the meal provided. However the number of children registered as being eligible for free school meals is one of the factors taken into account by the local authority when funds are allocated to schools and therefore it is of great benefit to the children and the school if all those children entitled are registered. The children are also entitled to a sum of money for after school activities, ie for school after-school clubs or an activity of their choice, for example swimming, dancing etc.

Please speak to Mrs Boyles if you would like an application form, or if you would like further explanation of the system.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Denise Slaght
Head Teacher
