NEWSLETTER NO. 10                                                                              2 MARCH 2011

Dear Parents

Reception – Class 7
As many of you know, Mrs Vallis is expecting her first child in April. She will begin her maternity leave on 18 March 2011. Mrs Halton will take over as the class teacher on Monday 21 March 2011. Mrs Halton has begun to spend time in class with Mrs Vallis and Mrs Tarkowska to get to know the children.

Parents and Friends Association – Cake/bun Sale Friday 4 March
The parents of the children in Class 5 have been asked to provide the cakes/buns. All the children in the school will have the opportunity to buy a cake/bun for 20p at break time.

Staff Development Days, Term and Holiday Dates
11 March – Staff Development Day – school closed for the children.
Easter Holiday – 11 April to Monday 25 April inclusive. The dates are the same as the Junior School and the Swindon Borough Schools but are different to St Joseph’s Catholic College.

Multi-cultural Days 17 and 18 March 2011
On 17 March each class will be looking at life in a different country – more details nearer the time.
The children will have the opportunity to experience an Indian Dance Workshop on Friday 18 March.

Please remember to inform the school if your child is ill
It is important that you either telephone or email the school by 9.30am on the first morning of absence (details are at the top of this Newsletter). When your child returns to school he or she should bring a letter explaining why he/she was absent. Children who have been ill with sickness or diarrhoea must not return to school for 48 hours after the last episode.

Children coming into school in the mornings - reminder
The children are now settled into the school routine and at this stage in the year we particularly like to encourage the independence of the Key Stage 1 children. Therefore once the bell has been rung at 8.45am and the school doors are open we would ask that the children come into the school building on their own. If you would like to speak to a member of staff you may of course come in but in these circumstances we would ask that you bring younger brothers and sisters with you but that any buggies/pushchairs are left outside.

We hope you will be able to help us in this way for the children’s development and to keep the corridors clear as the mornings are particularly busy with the children getting their coats off and their reading books, water bottles etc. out of their bags.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Denise Slaght
Head Teacher
