NEWSLETTER 11                                                                                             1 FEBRUARY 2010

Dear Parents

Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Week. The children’s costumes on Friday were excellent – we appreciate the time and effort that went into providing them. The school has been able to choose books to the value of £502 for the school and classroom libraries.
We would also like to thank you for the donations to the CAFOD Haiti appeal. £79 has been collected so far and this money will be sent off on Friday 5 February. There is still time to contribute if you wish to do so.

SCHOOL WEBSITE – We are very grateful to Sean James, a school Governor, who together with his wife Sandra keeps the website up-to-date with school information and newsletters. If there are any school items that you would like to see included on the website please let me know.

CLASS ASSEMBLIES – Parents of the children in Class 3 are invited to the Class Assembly on Friday 5 February and parents of the children in Class 4 on Friday 12 February.

COMMUNITY EVENTS
‘Mothering Heights’: a one day conference all about ‘Motherhood’ on Saturday 20 March 2010 in Oxford, price £10, free crèche. The local LIFE group will be providing a coach from Swindon. The aim of the day is to celebrate motherhood and to support mothers in the important work they do – it will be practical, fun and stimulating. Booking is now open via a link from the LIFE website www.lifecharity.org.uk; posters and booking forms will be available in churches and schools soon, or from Marguerite Holliday, Tel: 01793 480611.

Holy Rood Parish Easter Vigil, Saturday 3rd April: the most important liturgy in the church year will soon be upon us. Please do think about joining Holy Rood's part-time, New Life Choir which gathers each year to support a few special liturgies which the other, already busy choirs, cannot cover. You don't need to be a great singer, just to be prepared to lend us your voice, maybe bring a friend, and to come to our lively weekly practices throughout Lent: beginning on Tuesday 16th March at 7pm and then on Thursday evenings, 7pm, from 25th March. For more details, or to sign up, phone Marguerite Holliday on 480611.

Yours sincerely
Mrs Denise Slaght
